1925 - 1927
After years of lobbying and hard work, Footscray - fresh of defeating Essendon for the Champions of Victoria title - would join Hawthorn and North Melbourne in joining the Victorian Football League.
They would continue to wear the famous blue jumper with a red and white hoop.
1928 - 1931
Shorter shorts came into style for footy.
1932 - 1934
Red bands added to the top of the socks.
1935
In 1935, the Footscray Football Club would try and make itself more distinctive.
Borrowing from the red and white vertical stripes in their VFA years, Footscray would add a red and white yoke.
They would only wear these jumpers for 1 season, as they were destroy at the dry-cleaners.
1936-37
After the 1935 jumpers were destroyed at the dry-cleaners, the dogs would return to their hooped jumper but with different socks.
1938
In 1938, Footscray would update their jumper for the season, bringing the red and white hoops together.
1939-43
A change of socks in 1939 which - apart from the black home shorts - is their kit today.
1944-1945
The club would make another minor changes to the jumper to make them more distinctive, this time making our jumper navy blue with red and white hoops.
1946-1949
The club would go back to their traditional colours.
1950-60
Changed back to hooped socks.
1961-1974
Fashion would change in the year Footscray made their second VFL Grand Final with sleeveless jumpers becoming the fashion.
1975
In 1975, the introduction of coloured TV would impact on the jumpers of VFL sides. It was thought that the poor quality of the TV picture would mean viewers wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the red hoop and the blue. The solution was to use the white hoop as a band either side of the red hoop.
1976-78
VFL logo added.
1978
First sponsor to be added to the kit during the 1978 season.
1979
Updated sponsor logo.
1980-81
As fashion evolved, the red collars would disappear.
1982
New sponsor.
